Trump repeats claims of settling 8 wars in 10 months

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday once again claimed credit for ending multiple global conflicts and highlighted his administration’s immigration policies while outlining what he described as the major achievements of his second term in a year-end address to the nation.

In the 19-minute prime-time speech, Trump said he had taken office nearly a year ago, saying “I inherited a mess, and I'm fixing it”. He claimed credit for resolving eight wars within 10 months, eliminating what he described as the Iranian nuclear threat, ending the war in Gaza and securing the release of hostages. He also said these actions had brought unprecedented peace to the Middle East.

Although Trump did not specify the conflicts he was referring to, he has repeatedly asserted over the past year that his efforts ended or defused tensions between countries including India and Pakistan, Thailand and Cambodia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Rwanda and Congo, TNIE reported.

Reviewing his record since returning to office in January, Trump said his administration had secured the US border, reduced migration, lowered prices, used tariffs to generate billions of dollars in revenue, created jobs and taken tough action on immigration. He argued that migrants entering the country had taken American jobs and contributed to rising housing costs.

Trump said housing prices had surged largely because of what he described as a massive border crisis, blaming the previous Biden administration for allowing an unprecedented influx of migrants.

He accused the former administration and its allies in Congress of admitting millions of migrants and providing them with taxpayer-funded housing, while rental and housing costs for Americans increased sharply.

He further claimed that foreign migrants accounted for more than 60% of growth in the rental market and alleged that undocumented migrants had taken American jobs and overwhelmed emergency rooms while receiving publicly funded healthcare and education.

Trump also said the US was witnessing what he described as “reverse migration” for the first time in five decades, with migrants leaving the country, freeing up housing and jobs for Americans. He claimed that in the year before his election, all net job creation had gone to foreign migrants, while asserting that since he returned to office, all net new jobs had gone to American-born citizens.
