Sharjah: The Sharjah Ruler, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, announced today that compensation for homeowners affected by April rains has been increased to Dh50,000.

So far, 618 cases have benefited from the compensation, according to the Sharjah Government Media Bureau. A total of Dh15,330,000 has been approved for distribution to the affected residents. The Ruler directed the Sharjah Social Services Department to distribute the amount immediately.

In April, the Sharjah Executive Council, under the Ruler's directives, enhanced safety measures and prepared proactive plans for future situations. Homeowners affected by the rains were also offered aid and could apply through the Sharjah Digital Platform, which issued damage reports to facilitate the aid process.

Following the heaviest rains in 75 years, the council also granted a one-month postponement of fee payments related to renewal and violations for commercial establishments.
