text_fieldsPrince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, inaugurated the inaugural meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution on Wednesday in Riyadh. This coalition, established by the Kingdom in collaboration with international allies, seeks to mobilize practical measures towards securing a long-term peace in the region.
The coalition’s launch follows Saudi Arabia’s recent announcement regarding its intention to work closely with global partners to address the ongoing conflict and challenges facing Palestine. Prince Faisal’s opening remarks included a warm welcome to Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and other delegations attending the session.
Addressing the escalating violence, Prince Faisal underlined that recent Israeli actions and regional conflicts in Palestine and Lebanon necessitate a unified international response. He stressed that unchecked aggression poses a direct threat to the two-state solution’s feasibility and fuels instability in the Middle East. Prince Faisal also reiterated the Kingdom’s firm stance on demanding accountability for such violations, calling for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees and robust accountability mechanisms to counter impunity.
The Foreign Minister further emphasized Saudi Arabia’s strong support for UNRWA’s role, recognizing its essential work in delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinian territories despite significant operational challenges. He called upon the international community to double down on its efforts to protect the two-state solution, restore security and bring stability to the region.
Concluding his remarks, Prince Faisal highlighted Saudi Arabia’s dedication, alongside its regional partners, to pursuing peace through a structured approach with clear timelines. These measures aim to end the occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state.
The meeting saw participation from high-level officials, including Ambassador Dr. Saud Al-Sati, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs, and Dr. Manal Radwan, Counsellor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Their presence underscored the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to advancing peace and stability in the region through actionable, international cooperation.
