Kuwait condemns drone attack on Saudi oil facilities
text_fieldsKuwait has condemned continued attacks by Iran-backed militias in Iraq against Saudi Arabia, describing them as an escalation that threatens regional security and stability.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the latest attack involved drones launched on Tuesday evening in an attempt to target oil facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry called the attack a violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Kuwait said it stands in full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and supports all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its security, sovereignty and national interests.
The ministry also referred to Saudi Arabia’s right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
It said the security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council states.
