Indian startups to spotlight energy innovations at India Energy Week 2025
text_fieldsIndian startups are set to take center stage at India Energy Week (IEW) 2025, where they will showcase their groundbreaking innovations to a global audience.
The event, scheduled from February 11 to 14 at Yashobhoomi, Delhi, is expected to attract over 70,000 energy professionals from 120 countries.
A dedicated startup pavilion will highlight cutting-edge advancements in India's energy sector.
A special startup pavilion will feature some of India's most innovative energy solutions. Recently, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri announced the winners of two prestigious startup challenges—Avinya'25 and Vasudha—at a ceremony held at ONGC headquarters.
The announcement followed the ‘Energize India: Catalyzing Growth Through Startup Innovation’ conclave, which brought together industry veterans, investors, and energy innovators. Mr. Puri highlighted the role of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under his ministry in fostering innovation through a Rs 547.35 crore startup fund, which has already supported 303 startups with Rs 286.36 crore.
The winning startups will gain prominent exposure at IEW 2025, where they will present their innovations alongside 14 PSU-backed startups, further demonstrating India's dynamic energy landscape.
The event has grown significantly from its previous editions in Bengaluru and Goa. This year, it will feature over 700 exhibiting companies, 500 speakers, and more than 6,000 delegates from across the globe.
The US-India Business Council (USIBC) will lead a high-level delegation to the event. Key discussions will include the ‘Future of India-US Energy Partnership’, underscoring the growing collaboration between the two nations in energy security, cutting-edge technologies, and investment.
Rahul Sharma, Managing Director of USIBC India, emphasized the significance of India-US energy ties. He highlighted their shared commitment to innovation and strengthening energy supply chains, positioning both nations as leaders in the global energy transition.
Addressing the future of fossil fuels, Pankaj Jain, Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stated that fossil fuels will remain a part of India's energy mix for at least the next 25 years. He encouraged startups to explore innovative solutions using India's seismic data for hydrocarbon exploration.
India has firmly established itself as the third-largest startup ecosystem globally. As of December 31, 2024, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) had issued over 1.57 lakh startup certificates, recognizing India's rapidly expanding entrepreneurial landscape.
IEW 2025 is being held under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) and dmg events. The gathering will serve as a platform to address the most pressing challenges in the global energy sector.
With an increasing focus on energy security, sustainability, and innovation, India Energy Week 2025 is set to be a landmark event. The participation of startups, industry leaders, and policymakers will drive forward discussions and solutions that shape the future of India’s energy landscape.
