New Delhi: Congress leader and former Union Minister Muhsina Kidwai (94) passed away early this morning. She breathed her last at 4 AM in a Noida hospital.

Kidwai, a three-time Lok Sabha MP and two-time Rajya Sabha member, held key central portfolios including Urban Development, Transport, and Health & Family Welfare. Once a powerful figure in Congress national leadership, she maintained close ties with Sonia Gandhi and served on the Congress Working Committee and as AICC General Secretary in charge of Kerala until stepping back from active politics in 2016.

Born in 1932 in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, she completed intermediate studies at Aligarh Women's College and graduated from Aligarh Muslim University. Joining Congress in 1950, she entered politics in 1960 as Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council member and later served as a state cabinet minister.
