After calling Muslims 'sons of Aurangzeb,' Fadnavis now says no Muslims descend from Aurangzeb
text_fieldsMumbai: After referring to those who shared, posted, and made images of Aurangzeb as status on social media as 'the sons of Aurangzeb,' Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the Home Ministry portfolio, stated that no Muslim in India is a descendant of Aurangzeb and that nationalist Muslims do not consider him their leader.
He made this in a public rally held in Akola, Maharashtra as part of the completion of Narendra Modi government's nine years in office.
He further criticized Prakash Ambedkar, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) chief, for visiting Aurangzeb's tomb in the Aurangabad district, questioning whether Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray supported his actions.
Fadnavis linked recent protests and clashes in Maharashtra over social media posts glorifying Aurangzeb to an alleged "experiment" by sympathizers of the Mughal emperor.
He claimed that the only true leader for the people of Maharashtra is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Aurangzeb and his forefathers were outsiders who came from abroad.
Directing his criticism towards Ambedkar, Fadnavis questioned the need to visit Aurangzeb's tomb and compared Aurangzeb and Hitler, suggesting that both had ruled their respective countries for extended periods. Fadnavis further questioned whether Thackeray, who had forged an alliance with Ambedkar earlier, approved of his actions.
Fadnavis warned that those who attempt to disturb the peace will be dealt with firmly, without elaborating on the specific measures to be taken.
Taking a swipe at Thackeray, Fadnavis accused him of borrowing speechwriters from his allies, the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), insinuating that Thackeray's own party lacked competent speechwriters. He highlighted Thackeray's alleged criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming that those who remained secluded at home could never understand the charisma of the Prime Minister and Home Minister.
Reflecting on the upcoming meeting of anti-BJP parties in Bihar, Fadnavis downplayed its significance, stating that the unity of opposition leaders would not pose a threat to the BJP, comparing their collaboration to numerous creepers that could not replace a mighty banyan tree.
Fadnavis praised PM Modi's efforts in providing rights and benefits to the people of India, particularly highlighting India's production of anti-coronavirus vaccines. He stated that India was one of the few countries capable of manufacturing these vaccines and that PM Modi had distributed them to 100 countries.
Additionally, Fadnavis mentioned that farmers in Maharashtra were reaping the benefits of various central government schemes, including the Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Ujjwala Yojana.
The statements made by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have sparked debate and controversy among various political factions and the public, with reactions ranging from support to criticism.
