Iran said on Saturday it is reviewing new proposals from the United States while insisting its negotiators will not make any concessions in ongoing efforts to revive talks between the two sides.

In a statement carried by state media, the Supreme National Security Council said fresh proposals had been conveyed through mediation involving Pakistan.

“In recent days, with the presence of the commander of the Pakistani army in Tehran as an intermediary and mediator in the negotiations, new proposals have been put forward by the Americans, which the Islamic Republic of Iran is currently reviewing and has not yet responded to,” the council said.

It added that Iran’s negotiating delegation “will not make even the slightest compromise, retreat or leniency, and will defend with all its strength the interests of the Iranian nation.”

Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator between Tehran and Washington and hosted an initial round of talks last week, which ended without an agreement.

The development comes hours after Iran moved to reimpose its closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to what it described as a US blockade of its ports.

The council said Iran is determined to maintain supervision and control over traffic through the strategic waterway until the conflict ends, adding that the US blockade would prevent even a limited reopening.

It said any conditional reopening would involve issuing transit certificates to vessels and requiring payment of fees related to security, safety, and environmental protection services.

US President Donald Trump warned Iran against attempting to “blackmail” Washington following the move.
