Triptii Dimri addresses backlash over intimate scenes in 'Animal'

Mumbai: Triptii Dimri, known for her role in Bulbbul, found herself at the centre of online discussions due to the controversial scenes with Ranbir Kapoor in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film 'Animal'.

The movie portrays Triptii engaging in an illicit affair with Ranbir, prompting a significant backlash on social media.

Speaking to ETimes, Triptii acknowledged that the criticism initially "disturbed" her but defended her portrayal, emphasising that she hasn't done anything "wrong".

Acknowledging the backlash, Triptii expressed, "Honestly, the scene is getting a lot of criticism and it did disturb me initially, because I'm someone who has hardly faced criticism. I was also taken aback. But then, I sat myself down and I thought about it. Nobody forced me to become an actor. I wanted to do it because I found it exciting."

She continued, reflecting on her journey as an actor and the challenges it brings: "And as I started doing it, the characters that I played, started healing a part of me. I started finding joy in the challenges and everything that was coming my way. And that is how I want to go about acting in life as well, whatever comes my way."

Addressing the criticism surrounding a scene where her character is asked to lick Ranbir's shoes, Triptii made it clear that while she wouldn't perform such an act personally, as an actor, she embraces exploring the diverse facets of humanity within characters. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to delve into various emotions, portraying the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of human nature.

She stressed the distinction between on-screen portrayal and personal conduct: "What is shown in films does not imply that what the person is doing on-screen is right, or that people who watch it should start behaving like that. Maybe this is what the character is doing in a specific situation. That's not what you are as a person."

Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film 'Animal' hit theatres on December 1 and has been making waves at the box office.

Despite its success, the film faced criticism for glorifying morally questionable characters.

Triptii Dimri gained acclaim for her roles in Netflix films such as 'Bulbbul' and 'Qala'.
