Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte lock horns in revenge thriller "Akka"

The much-anticipated web series Akka, starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte, promises an intense showdown between two formidable women.

The teaser for the revenge thriller was unveiled on Monday at Netflix’s 'Next on Netflix' event, where the streaming giant showcased its upcoming projects for 2025.

Set in the 1980s in the fictional South Indian city of Pernuru, Akka delves into the world of gangster queens who wield immense power. Their authority, however, is threatened by an outsider, played by Radhika Apte.

The teaser offers a glimpse into this gripping conflict, opening with striking visuals of Keerthy Suresh leading her all-female gang. Meanwhile, Radhika’s character is shown carefully plotting her move to challenge Akka's dominance.

The visuals also hint at the gang’s involvement in the gold trade, with Radhika’s character emerging as a formidable disruptor. As tensions rise, the teaser showcases fierce battle sequences featuring the gang’s members, clad in traditional attire, taking up arms to protect their rule.

Directed and written by Dharmaraj Shetty, Akka is produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of YRF Entertainment, with Yogendra Mogre and Akshaye Widhani also serving as producers. The series features veteran actress Tanvi Azmi in a significant role.

This project marks Radhika Apte’s return to the screen after welcoming her daughter in December last year. Meanwhile, Keerthy Suresh, who recently made her Bollywood debut in Baby John alongside Varun Dhawan, attended the launch event in Mumbai. Expressing her enthusiasm, she shared, "Akka introduces a world unlike anything you’ve seen before. It’s a story of strong, fearless women coming together."
