IFC Films acquire Indian-American rom-com Four Samosas
text_fieldsLos Angeles: Indian-American romantic comedy 'Four Samosas' has been acquired by US-based production house IFC Films. It will be released in theatres on December 2, 2022.
Four Samosas is a rom-com set in the Little India neighbourhood of Los Angeles, California. It premiered at this year's Tribeca Film Festival. It garnered critical acclaim at the festival.
Four Samosas never ceases to gather momentum over its running time, feeling like a cross between indie totem 'Clerks' and 'Reservoir Dogs' minus the guns, violence, or bad language, wrote We Got This Covered in its review.
Director Ravi Kapoor said the team is thrilled that IFC Films will keep the good vibes going after a fantastic coming-out party at Tribeca. "They recognize how our film about finding your crew can resonate with audiences of all ilks," reported Variety.
The story revolves around Vinny who wants to be a South Asian American rapper. He plans to rob a grocery store owned by his ex-girlfriend's father so that he can steal her wedding diamonds and disrupt her engagement. He enlists three of his friends but all of them are first-time thieves.
President of IFC Films Arianna Bocco said it is a hilarious film that is part comedy and part heist. It has the spirit and style reminiscent of Wes Anderson. "It features an incredible ensemble cast who are totally game for Kapoor's wild ride. We're so thrilled to have Ravi and his team as part of the IFC Family, and we can't wait for audiences to experience this endearing and original film," she added.
In the Ravi Kapoor directorial, the main cast includes Venk Potula, Sonal Shah, Sharmita Bhattacharya, Nirvan Patnaik, Karan Soni, Summer Bishil, and Meera Simhan.
