Ukraine undermines peace attempts: Russia after sky-Jinping call

Moscow: After the first-ever call between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Chinese President Xi Jinping since the Russian invasion, the Russian administration accused the Ukraine government of undermining peace attempts, Agence France-Presse reported.

Despite having strong ties with Russia, China, posing as a neutral party, entered the fray for mediation talks. So far, China has not condemned the Russian invasion and war crimes ensued.

Russian foreign ministry said that Kyiv, as well as its "Western minders", have messed up any peace initiatives. It mentioned China's readiness to bring efforts to establish peace through a negotiation process.

However, China's political solution was vague, including a call for dialogue and respect for all countries' territorial sovereignty, while same China named/renamed certain villages of Arunachal Pradesh in India.

According to the Russian ministry, it sees a broad consonance in its approach and the provisions in the paper released by China.

Kyiv is rejecting "any sensible initiatives aimed at a political and diplomatic settlement," AFP quoted Moscow's accusation.

It said that the eventual consent to negotiations was conditioned by ultimatums with obviously unrealistic demands.

Earlier, Ukraine's administration said that it would not negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin and that peace would be possible only when Russia called back its troops.
