‘Poisoning the blood of our..’: Trump repeats controversial anti- immigrant remark

Durham, New Hampshire: The former US President Donald Trump, who is running for another term in office, told a campaign rally in New Hampshire that illegal immigrants were ‘poisoning the blood of our country’.

Trump promised, if he is back in power, to restricting illegal migrant crossing across the US-Mexico border happening in new peaks in September, according to Reuters.

The immigrants, he added, were coming from Asia, Africa and South America ‘poisoning the blood of our country’, using the language for which he was previously criticised back in late September.

During an interview with a right-leaning website, The National Pulse, in September, Trump used the language ‘ poisoning the blood’ which led to Anti-Defamation League leader Jonathan Greeblatt calling it ‘ racist, xenophobic and despicable’.

Jonathan Stanley, author of a book on fascism, equated Trump’s language to Adolf Hitler’s rhetoric in his book ‘Mein Kampf’ where he had warned against German blood being poisoned by Jews.

Highlighting the safety of immigrants, Staley said Trump ‘is now employing this vocabulary in repetition in rallies. Repeating dangerous speech increases its normalization and the practices it recommends.’

However, Trump’s campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung in October called the criticism against Trump’s language ‘nonsensical’.
