Bizarre! Man dangles baby over 15th floor balcony asking Facebook likes
text_fieldsSocial media nowadays is turning to be a space for seeking appreciation and attention. In this mad race sometimes people lose the sense of right and wrong. They can go any length to gain people's attention. The man, who has not been named, posted a picture of himself holding the baby from 15th floor of a building, gripping on to just the child’s t-shirt.
The image was captioned: ‘1,000 likes or I will drop him’. The post received immense criticism and backlash from the social media. Many of them contacted the police, demanding the arrest of the accused for child abuse.
Police later arrested the man in Algeria, and charged him with endangering the baby’s safety.
The man denied the acquisition by claiming that social media users had altered the photograph. He said: ‘The picture was taken in a balcony with protective barriers. These were removed.’
The child’s father also pleaded with the courts, insisting the man had ‘just been playing a game’.
However the court wasn’t convinced with his pleas and stated that the image was clear that he had put the child in danger. He was jailed for two years.
