Elon Musk’s satellite internet venture, Starlink, is gearing up to begin operations in India within the next two months, following its recent receipt of regulatory approval, sources have confirmed.
Starlink has reportedly finalised its pricing for the Indian market, with the satellite dish device expected to cost around ₹33,000. Additionally, the unlimited monthly internet plan will likely be priced at ₹3,000.
To attract early adopters, the company is offering a one-month free trial with each device purchase, giving users a chance to test the service before committing to a regular subscription.
Starlink’s entry is expected to revolutionise internet access in India’s remote and underserved regions, where laying traditional broadband infrastructure remains a significant challenge. The service, powered by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, aims to deliver high-speed connectivity to areas that have long lacked reliable internet.
The pricing strategy is in line with Starlink’s approach in nearby countries, where the device cost remains consistent—₹33,000 in both Bangladesh and Bhutan.
