New Delhi: Major tech giants are shaken to their roots in the current global economic crisis, forcing them to trim down their size.

Following on the heels of massive layoffs at Twitter, Amazon has started cutting jobs impacting thousands of employees, according to a report in India Today.

After the tech world reported the grim scenario of mass jobs loss at Twitter, now Meta and Amazon has started cutting jobs.

Working for long in plush environs with good pay and perks, losing job out of blue brings the shock many employees are not prepared for.

The hunt for new positions is easily said than done given the slimmer chances of hiring happening across the field.

Reports say that trimming down of work force has not yet given stability to major tech companies.

Beginning on Wednesday, Amazon will reportedly continue the biggest ever layoff in its history through the months of 2023.

Online retailer has showed door to employees of departments including the Alexa voice assistant division, according to the report.

Sending jitters, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy confirmed the company's plan to execute more layoff in the coming year.

Jassy said that decision to role reductions will be shared with impacted employees and organisations early in 2023, however not giving specific number of layoffs being planned.

However, Amazon will be laying off 10,000 employees, according to the report which added that the company has asked employees to find new roles within the company in 2 months' time.
