US Open: Sania Mirza gets eliminated from women's doubles

Queens/US: Sania Mirza got knocked out in the US Open Tennis women's doubles first round on Thursday, reports NDTV. With her 12th seeded pair, Coco Vandeweghe, Sania lost the match in three sets against the team Raluca Olaru and Nadiia Kichenok.

In the first set, Sania and her pair showed dominance with their clinical shots and took the lead by sealing the set for 6-4. But they could not keep the momentum. They got broke early in the second set, and in its end, Olaru and Kichenok finished the set with 6-4, levelling the contest.

In the decider set, the Sania and Vandeweghe lost their footing completely and lost for 3-6, ultimately getting eliminated from the tournament.

Sania will play in the mixed doubles category later, pairing up with USA's Rajeev ram. The duo will be playing against the team of Kevin Krawietz and Kveta Peschke.
