ECI announces voter roll revision in four States, two UTs
text_fieldsThe Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a fresh round of special summary revision of electoral rolls in four states and two Union Territories, with the process beginning this month and the final voter lists scheduled for publication on January 21.
The exercise will cover Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Odisha, Sikkim, Chandigarh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, where the special intensive revision of electoral rolls has already been completed.
According to the schedule issued to the chief electoral officers on Wednesday, polling stations must be rationalised or rearranged by November 20. Draft electoral rolls will be released on November 30, after which voters can submit claims and objections until December 30. The final lists are due on January 21.
Unlike the special intensive revision, which involves preparing electoral rolls afresh, the summary revision updates existing lists by adding eligible voters and removing entries where necessary.
The annual summary revision had been put on hold after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as the ECI undertook the intensive revision process, which began in 2025.
The latest announcement follows the poll panel's October 15 decision to undertake summary revision in 13 states and three Union Territories where the intensive exercise had been completed, along with Assam, where a separate revision process was conducted.
The ECI has also scheduled the exercise in several other states and Union Territories, with draft rolls due on November 12 and final lists on January 4.
