text_fieldsMelbourne: Cricket Australia (CA) has named Todd Greenberg as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Nick Hockley, who will step down at the end of the domestic summer in March 2024.
Greenberg, currently serving as the CEO of the Australian Cricketers’ Association, brings extensive experience in sports administration. His career includes leading roles as CEO of the National Rugby League (NRL), Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, and General Manager of Stadium Australia.
A former cricketer, Greenberg played First Grade for Randwick in NSW Premier Cricket, representing the club for a decade between 1987 and 1997. At 53, he becomes the 15th individual to head Cricket Australia since its establishment in 1892 as the Australasian Cricket Council.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Greenberg said, “It’s an honor to lead Australian cricket at such a pivotal time. The rapid global growth of the game offers fantastic opportunities, but also challenges to ensure Australia remains a leader in cricket. I look forward to building on the strong foundation established by the current administration to ensure the sport thrives from grassroots to the grandest stages.”
CA Chair Mike Baird praised Greenberg’s credentials, highlighting his innovative leadership, commercial acumen, and contributions to the growth of women's rugby league. "Todd’s passion for cricket and his vision to further its development impressed the recruitment panel. He is well-placed to guide the sport into a new era of opportunity," Baird said.
Baird also commended outgoing CEO Nick Hockley for his contributions, noting achievements such as securing a broadcast rights deal, a seven-year content strategy, and a Memorandum of Understanding. Hockley will leave the role with the game in a strong position.
Greenberg is set to assume his responsibilities in March 2024.
