text_fieldsA pregnant woman aboard a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus experienced a sudden onset of labour pains on May 29, triggering an impromptu delivery on board.
The 37-year-old woman, travelling from Thrissur to Kozhikode, received timely assistance from the bus staff, local volunteers, and medical professionals, ensuring the delivery arrival of a baby girl.
As the bus journeyed past the Peramangalam area, the expectant mother began to experience intense labour pains, prompting the bus driver to divert the route towards Thrissur and simultaneously alert Amala Hospital for urgent assistance.
Meanwhile, the bus staff and medical responders created a makeshift delivery room within the confines of the bus. The woman was carefully attended to by doctors, supported by the efforts of both the transport personnel and eager onlookers.
Captured in a poignant video that has since circulated online, the footage portrays the scene of the woman being attended to on the bus staircase.
Upon reaching Amala Hospital, the medical team facilitated the transition of the mother and child to a ward, where further postnatal care was provided. The delivery proceeded smoothly, devoid of any complications, as affirmed by hospital officials.
Reports from the hospital confirm that both mother and baby are in stable condition.
