Kochi: On his visit to the state today, PM Modi unveiled development schemes for BPCL, Cochin refinery and Kochi port worth 6100 crores. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governor, and Union ministers also partook in the event.

Referring to Kochi as a business centre, Modi claimed that development schemes are the stepping stone to an 'aatmanirbhar bharat'. Under the current covid circumstances, domestic tourism must be utilized for development, he said. He further added that development policies targeted at the upcoming generation should be implemented.

On his visit, the PM laid the foundation stone of Cochin Port Trust's South Coal Berth, inaugurated Cochin Shipyard Limited's Marine engineering training institute, the RoRo vessel service in the Willingdon Island-Vallarpadam sector, and the Propylene Derivative Petrochemical Project at BPCL Kochi Refinery. He also launched the Sagarika Cruise Terminal at Cochin Port.
