Without seeing Sun for 10 years, this woman endures all trials for her love

We all have heard stories of couples that stood the test of time to win their love. But have you ever heard of an unusual love story where a man hid his lover for over a decade in one of the rooms in his parent's house with none to notice it?

That is how the story of Rahman (34) and Sajitha (28), both natives of Ayiloor, a village near Palakkad in Kerala becomes unique and interesting.

Rahman, a casual electric and painting worker, was 24 and Sajitha, 18 when the lovers tricked the family members fearing opposition since both belonged to different communities. Sajitha, daughter of Velayudhan, went missing 10 years ago and Nenmara police had investigated the complaint filed by her family. The investigation went in vain. Ever since Sajitha faded away as a memory of all, not knowing she lived just 500 metres away from their home.

Rahman was caught by the police when he secretly moved out of the family house and rented a separate house with his lover in Vithunassery, about eight kilometres away. They managed to live there freely for three months until Rahman was located by his brother.

Families and local residents are still stunned at the revelations, as Rahman's brother, Basheer, spotted him coincidentally. Basheer sought the help of Nenmara Police, to whom Rahman unveiled his unique love story.

Based on a complaint lodged in February 2010 by Sajitha's parents, the couple was brought to the Alathoor court after recording the statement of the young woman. Upon their desire to live together, the magistrate granted permission.

Pretended depression

Rahman hid Sajitha in his own room the very same night she went missing. To rule out the doubts of his family, he pretended to be depressed, thus, forbade them from interfering in his matters. He stopped eating with his family and only consumed the food inside the room. The young woman waited until night to use the washroom outside without being seen. Rahman always locked the room with an electric lock when he left out for work.

Finally, three months ago, the two moved out of here without anyone knowing. Sajitha's cooperation with her lover Rahman made his plan successfully continue unattended throughout a decade.
