Nurseries in Dubai, Sharjah to reopen in phases from Thursday
text_fieldsNurseries in Dubai and Sharjah will begin reopening from Thursday, the first step in a nationwide plan to restore in-person learning after weeks of disruption linked to the Iran war.
Authorities said nurseries operating on government premises and commercial buildings in both emirates will be allowed to resume first.
Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority said each centre must receive approval before reopening and comply with strict safety requirements and procedures.
In Sharjah, the Private Education Authority said selected nurseries will reopen once administrative and teaching staff complete training on crisis and emergency protocols. The authority said the measures are intended to ensure children return to a safe and supportive setting.
The plan follows a decision by the Education, Human Resources and Community Development Council on Tuesday to begin reopening nurseries in stages starting this week.
Nurseries not included in the first phase can continue services by sending teachers to homes and community centres, in line with existing regulations.
A decision on the return of school students and the wider education sector is expected on Wednesday through official channels of the Ministry of Education and relevant higher education authorities.
