Kottayam: The body of K P Chacko, the industrialist who was kidnapped from Itanagar by extremists last month was found in the forests in Arunachal.

The relatives who identified the body on Friday have confirmed the fact. The post-mortem would be held on Saturday.

Efforts to bring his body to Puthupalli have started under the initiative of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Jose K.Mani MP. A Puthupalli native, Chacko ran a large bakery chain in Arunachal and has been settled there for the past 25 years.

He was kidnapped on August 28 by extremists who came in an Assam registration car from his home, the police said. When he resisted the attempt his kidnappers alleged fired gun shots and fled with Chacko by the time police arrived.

Chacko is survived by his wife Usha, and daughters Prinu (House Surgeon, Kottayam Medical College) and Preetha (BDS student.)
