Kuwait mourns two naval officers killed during airspace attacks
text_fieldsKuwait on Tuesday mourned two naval officers killed while carrying out their duties amid Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting the country’s airspace.
The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army announced the deaths of Staff Sergeant Waleed Majed Sulaiman and Sergeant Abdulaziz Abdulmohsen Dakhel Nasser. The two servicemen were killed on Monday evening during missions assigned to the armed forces.
In separate statements, the General Staff offered prayers for mercy upon the two men and extended condolences to their families. The officers were laid to rest on Tuesday.
Messages of solidarity were issued from across the region. Saudi Arabia conveyed condolences and affirmed its support for Kuwait, offering assistance in any measures taken and wishing the injured a swift recovery.
Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi also expressed condolences to Kuwait’s leadership, government and people, commending the role of armed forces personnel in defending their countries. Qatar and Jordan likewise extended condolences and voiced support for Kuwait’s efforts to protect its sovereignty and stability.
