CM assures to look into issues of Livestock industry
text_fieldsKochi: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Thursday assured the livestock industry in the state that he would look into their various concerns, including issue of high taxes.
In his inaugural address at 'From Food to Nutrition Security- The importance of Animal Protein', a national symposium of the Compound Livestock Feed Manufacturers Association (CLFMA), he said the government would look into the issues raised by them and try to solve the problems.
Dr Dinesh Bhoslae, Chairman CLFMA of India, brought to the chief minister's notice the various problems, including those relating to taxes, being faced by the industry in Kerala.
In his address, eminent agriculture scientist, Dr M S Swaminathan said a transparent, credible regulatory mechanism was needed.
During the inaugural session, M C Paul, Chairman and Managing Director of KSE Ltd, was honoured for his valubale contributions for the feed industry for the last four decades.
Dr C S Prasad, Retired Director National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Dr D V Reddy, Dean of Veterinary college, Puducherry, and Dr M P Sahu, Head of Fish Nutrition Department Central Institute of Fisheries Education were honoured for their contributions to the animal feed sector.
