Kannur: A day after the Vigilance Court ordered a re-investigation into the titanium pollution control plant scam, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala Friday denied his role in the case.

Talking to reporters here, Chennithala said he had no role in the case pertaining to the alleged corruption in procurement and installation of pollution control machinery at the Titanium factory.

“I don’t know why I was arraigned as an accused in the case. I didn’t take over as KPPC president when the Cabinet took the decision in this regard. I didn’t hold any post during those times,” he said.

“I’m ready to face any probe,” he added.

On Thursday, the special judge while rejecting the report filed by the Vigilance department of the Kerala police asked it to register fresh FIRs against 12 persons, including Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, Public Works Department Minister V K Ibrahimkunju and former industries secretary T Balakrishnan.
