CPI-M demands CBI probe in Titanium case
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: The CPI (M) Thursday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the case pertaining to the alleged corruption in procurement and installation of pollution control machinery at the Titanium factory.
“Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and Public Works Minister V.K Ibrahimkunju should resign in view of the directive of the Vigilance Court in the Titanium case,” the CPI (M) demanded in a statement.
"The court verdict dismissing the vigilance probe report raises the seriousness of the case. Oommen Chandy and the accused ministers should resign for an impartial probe into the case,” it added.
Reacting to the Vigilance Court verdict, Opposition leader V.S Achuthanandan said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy should resign immediately. “The court verdict is a big blow to Chandy,” he said.
In a setback to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, the Vigilance Court Thursday rejected the Vigilance probe report and ordered a re-investigation in the corruption case.
The alleged corruption took place when Chandy was chief minister in 2004-06. The case was filed by an employee of the company at the vigilance court.
