Thiruvananthapuram: The State government Tuesday said it has requested the High Court to set up a special bench to hear vigilance cases to ensure their speedy clearance.
Speaking at a function here, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said there are instances of vigilance cases pending for 10 years, creating discontent among people.
It was to avoid this that government had requested the Chief Justice of the High Court to set up a special bench to hear vigilance cases, he said.
People were losing faith on democracy and one of the main reasons for this was corruption, he said, adding government institutions should think of how to tackle this problem.
