Ranchi: In Jharkhand, the asset details of the candidates were released in connection with the elections.

The richest candidate in the state has assets worth Rs 400 crore. Meanwhile, the poorest candidate has just Rs 100 in possession. Also, the Jharkhand People's Party candidate Ilian Hansdak does not have even a single rupee as an asset.

The richest candidate is Samajwadi Party's Akhtar. Akhtar's opponent in Dhanwar is independent candidate Niranjan Roy, who has assets worth Rs 137 crore. He is second on the list of richest candidates.

According to the Election Commission's list, out of the 522 candidates contesting in the second phase, 127 have assets worth a crore or more rupees. The BJP has fielded the highest number of candidates with assets worth a crore or more.

The assembly elections in Jharkhand were planned in two phases, on November 13 and 20, and the first face was held on Wednesday. When the results are announced on November 23, the current cabinet term ends on January 5, 2025.

Campaigning for the elections in the state went hot in the past few days. Union Home Minister Amit Shah vowed that the BJP would not extend reservations to Muslims in a rally in the state a day ago. Addressing the poll rally in Dhanbad, Shah alleged that Congress is an anti-reservation party and it wanted to end reservations for backward classes and Dalits to provide them to Muslims, Times of India reported.

"As long as there's even one BJP MLA, we won't allow reservations for Muslims," TOI quoted Shah,

Later, he raised alleged illegal immigration in the state and claimed that infiltrators are taking jobs and land. They are targeting tribal women and draining local resources, he claimed.
