British woman raped and molested in Delhi hotel, two arrested

New Delhi: A British woman was allegedly raped and molested by two men at a hotel in Delhi's Mahipalpur area, an official said on Thursday.
Two people have been taken into custody in relation to the incident, which took place on Tuesday. Authorities have also notified the British High Commission regarding the matter.
According to officials, the British national initially met one of the accused, 24-year-old Kailash, through a social media platform. The woman then allegedly travelled from Goa to Delhi to meet Kailash.
A British national was allegedly molested by a hotel housekeeping staff member in the lift. She was then allegedly raped in a hotel room by the 24-year-old individual she had previously met through social media.
The woman initially contacted the accused through a social media platform approximately a month and a half prior to the incident, and they subsequently maintained regular communication, the police official said.
Kailash, a resident of east Delhi, had limited English proficiency and relied on a translation app to communicate with the British woman, police stated. Upon her arrival in India, the woman and Kailash made arrangements to meet in Delhi.
The victim travelled from Goa to Delhi and checked into a hotel in Mahipalpur. When the accused, whom she had met through social media, visited her at the hotel, she alleged that he raped her, the official said.
Police teams are checking CCTV footage of the hotel to know the sequence of the events.
