Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine has begun collaborating with US President Donald Trump’s team to achieve peace and end the ongoing war with Russia. He expressed optimism about the progress being made, emphasizing America's crucial role in ensuring lasting peace.

"We have begun working with President Trump’s team and can already see that success is attainable. Right now, the world is looking up to America as the power that has the ability to not only stop the war but also help ensure the reliability of peace afterward. Ahead of the Munich Security Conference, I had a good call with the US President and a substantive meeting with Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Rubio,” Zelensky posted on X.

He further revealed that General Kellogg is expected to visit Ukraine soon to assess the situation and explore pathways for President Trump’s proposed solutions, which he described as having strong potential for peace. "Our teams are working thoroughly and in detail on a special agreement between our countries—one that will certainly strengthen both America and Ukraine. We are committed to making it a real success, exactly as we agreed," he added.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Zelensky expressed confidence in Trump’s involvement in resolving the conflict. "I hope that we can count on President Trump to help us. I really count on him because he is the President of the US," he stated.

However, media reports indicated that Zelensky also issued a warning regarding the future of US support for Europe. "The old days are over – when America supported Europe just because it always had," he cautioned, suggesting a shift in geopolitical dynamics.

In a separate development, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a telephone conversation on Saturday, discussing a range of issues, including the anticipated meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump.

According to media reports, Lavrov and Rubio agreed to maintain open channels of communication to address longstanding issues in US-Russian relations. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the talks focused on removing unilateral barriers inherited from the previous administration to facilitate mutually beneficial trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

The much-anticipated Ukraine peace talks between Trump and Putin are expected to take place in Saudi Arabia soon.
