Popular Israeli TV series crew member dies in Gaza during military action
text_fieldsTel Aviv: A crew member of a popular Israeli TV series died during the country’s offensive against Hamas in Gaza Strip.
The 38-year-old Matan Meir who is part of the series ‘Fauda’ was among the soldiers who lost lives in the line of duty in Gaza, The Jerusalem Post reported.
Matan Meir was Sergeant Major General (Reservist) of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).
The Fauda cast reportedly said that Matan Meir was an essential part of their team, expressing profound grief.
‘We are devastated to share that one of our Fauda family members, Matan Meir, was killed in action in Gaza. Matan was an integral crew member. The cast and crew are heartbroken by this tragic loss. We extend our condolences to Matan's family and friends. May his soul rest in peace,’ the Fauda cast said on social media platform X.
IDF sources reportedly said that Matan Meir, who hailed from Israel’s northern part of the Golan Heights, served in the 697th Battalion of the IDF's 551st Brigade.
Besides Fauda, Meir was part of the production of other shows such as ‘The Cops’.
Israel started intense strikes on Gaza, which killed nearly 11,000 Palestinians, including 8,000 children and women, following Hamas attack on October 7 that killed over 1,200 people.
