Islamabad: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan requested Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to provide him adequate security during his court appearances, claiming that he faces "grave threat" to life.

Khan wrote to Umar Ata Bandial describing the threat he began facing after he was ousted from power, along with subsequent ‘questionable FIRs’.

Imran Khan who is embroiled in several court cases complained of not having adequate security cover despite being the former prime minister of the country.

Accusing current Prime Minister and Interior Minister of having involved in the failed assassination attempt against him, he said there is clear indication of another attempt coming on him, according to The Express Tribune.

Referring to himself as the chairman of what he said the nation’s largest political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he said right to life is fundamental under the constitution.

Khan also claimed that there are 74 cases against him and he has to appear in court for hearing often, and told the court that there was a ‘total failure’of official security during his last appearance before Lahore High Court.

He requested a video link facility for court appearances to ward off threats against his life. Earlier in the day, Imran Khan demanded a "public trial" of the Toshakhana case.

Later he told the rally he had never "bowed before any man or institution, and will never let you do so as well", Dawn quoted him as saying.
