Israel Govt alleges Hamas abduction of autistic child, Harry Potter author calls it 'despicable’
text_fieldsLondon: In response to an official tweet from the Israeli government accusing Hamas of taking hostage a 12-year-old autistic child, celebrated author J.K. Rowling called the act 'despicable and wholly unjustifiable.'
However, an official confirmation from Hamas is yet to emerge on the reported abduction of an autistic child amidst widespread false information attempts, part of garnering sentimental support for Israeli attacks on Gaza.
The celebrated author of the Harry Potter series was responding to the tagged photo of a 12-year-old autistic Harry Potter fan, Noya who was kidnapped days ago from Israel.
The Israeli government shared on social media Noya’s photo dressed in a Harry Potter costume, holding Rowling's books and a wand.
The post on X said: “This beautiful 12-year-old girl with autism was kidnapped from her home by Hamas terrorists and was taken to Gaza. Noya, is sensitive, kind, funny and a massive Harry Potter fan. @jk_rowling can you help us get her story out? Share this and help us bring Noya home.”
“Kidnapping children is despicable and wholly unjustifiable. For obvious reasons, this picture has hit home with me. May Noya and all hostages taken by Hamas be returned soon, safely, to their families,” Rowling said.
Many on social media supported Rowling for coming out against the kidnapping of children during the attack.
