With this chopstick, you can enjoy salty foods without blood pressure fear

If you are a patient with high sodium who wishes to reduce salt content in noodles and miso soup without losing the taste, here you have specially designed electric chopsticks that could create a salt taste for you.

The electronic device is being developed in Japan which the researchers claim could artificially create the taste of salt. The device- mini-computer works on electrical stimulation can be worn as a wristband on an eater's hand.

The eaters could taste the saltiness in the mouth from the sodium ions transmitted from food through the chopsticks, is the mechanism, says Homei Miyashita, a professor at Meiji University in Tokyo. The research is being held in Miyashita's laboratory and collaborated with the food and drink manufacturer Kirin to develop the device.

The developers believe that the device can be taken to market after making refine in the prototype by next year.

The utensils could find a receptive audience in Japan, where the traditional diet tends to be high in salt due to the use of ingredients such as miso and soy sauce. High salt intake can contribute to high blood pressure, which is the single biggest cause of heart attacks and strokes.
