Mumbai: Writing history, Paralympian Prachi Yadav became the first canoeist from the country to win a World Cup medal after winning a bronze in the VL2 Women's 200m in the Paracanoe World Cup held in Poland, IANS reported.

In the event held on Saturday, the Madhya Pradesh origin para-canoeist Prachi finished third in the VL2 Women's 200m in 1:04.71. Meanwhile, Tokyo's silver medalists in 2020, Susan Seipel of Australia and Brianna Hennessy of Canada, won gold and silver, respectively.

When the former met the finishing line in 1:01.54, the latter in 1:01.58.

It was on May 26, the Paracanoe World Cup started in Poland's Pozna. The games will end on the 29th Sunday, and India has made a significant presence in it.

The event so far registered laudable performances by Manish Kaurav in KL3 Men 200m and Manjeet Singh in VL2 Men 200m by reaching the finals for the first time in the history of the sport in India. In VL3 Men's 200m category, India's Jaideep had reached the final.

Meanwhile, Germany's Edina Müller won gold in KL1 women's 200 metres. In women's KL2 200, Germany's Anja Adler won gold.
