PETA India celebrates Chandrayaan-3 success, sends rocket-shaped vegan cake to ISRO
text_fieldsBengaluru: Animal advocacy organisation PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) extended its congratulations to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) by delivering a specially crafted vegan cake shaped like a rocket.
This gesture comes in recognition of the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon's south pole, a remarkable achievement that had not been accomplished until now. The rocket-shaped vegan cake, made with chocolate truffle and blue buttercream, serves not only as a celebration of the historic lunar landing but also as a tribute to ISRO's commitment against animal testing.
ISRO has chosen to use a humanoid robot instead of animals for its upcoming Gaganyaan mission.
In the image of creative confection, PETA emphasised the significance of the vegan cake delivery: "We hope @isro loves this #vegan cake delivered by PETA India today to the moon and back. Made with love and respect by #CravebyLeena in Bengaluru. Congratulations India!"
The cake's design takes inspiration from the Chandrayaan-3 mission, contributing to the overall commemoration of this monumental accomplishment.
India made history with the successful soft-landing of Chandrayaan-3's lander module on the Moon's surface. This achievement marked India as the fourth country in the world to achieve such a feat and the first to reach the previously unexplored south pole of Earth's natural satellite.
Adding to the excitement surrounding the lunar landing, ISRO shared a selfie video from the Moon's surface, showcasing India's robotic achievements. The video displayed the Chandrayaan-3 Rover ramping down from the Lander to the lunar surface, offering a unique view of the technological prowess behind this remarkable endeavour.
In recognition of Chandrayaan-3's milestone accomplishment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that August 23 will be celebrated as National Space Day, commemorating the lunar landing. The specific landing points were named to honour the achievements: the Vikram lander's landing spot on the lunar surface was designated as the 'Shiv Shakti' Point, and the Chandrayaan-2 Lunar landing point was named the 'Tiranga' Point.
