Mosques across the UAE are preparing to welcome worshippers for Eid Al Adha prayers on Wednesday, May 27, following weeks of regional tension linked to the Iran conflict.

Congregational prayers marking one of the most significant occasions in the Islamic calendar are expected to begin shortly after sunrise, with timings varying across the emirates.

Authorities said Eid prayers will generally take place about 15 to 20 minutes after sunrise, with worshippers advised to arrive at mosques by around 5.30am because of expected crowds.

According to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, Eid prayer timings in Abu Dhabi emirate will be 5.51am in Abu Dhabi City, 5.45am in Al Ain and 5.56am in Zayed City.

In Dubai, prayers are expected to begin at 5.47am.

Sharjah’s Department of Islamic Affairs confirmed prayer timings of 5.45am in Sharjah City and Al Hamriyah, 5.42am in the eastern region including Khor Fakkan, Kalba and Dibba Al Hisn, and 5.44am in central areas including Al Dhaid, Al Bataeh, Mleiha and Al Madam.

Ajman is expected to follow a similar schedule to Sharjah, with prayers at 5.45am.

Prayer timings in Umm Al Quwain are expected at 5.44am, while Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah are both expected to hold prayers at 5.43am.

Muslims traditionally observe several Sunnah practices before Eid prayers, including ritual bathing, wearing their best clothes, applying perfume and walking to the mosque if possible.

The Eid prayer consists of two rak‘ahs with additional takbeers, after which families and friends gather to exchange greetings and begin Eid celebrations.
