Dubai: Flydubai has revealed its plans to resume flights to Al Jouf Airport and commence operations at Red Sea International Airport, strengthening its presence in the GCC.

Starting on April 18, Flydubai will operate flights twice a week from Terminal 2, Dubai International, to Al Jouf Airport (AJF) and Red Sea International Airport (RSI).

Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at Flydubai, expressed the airline's vision to support economic and tourism development in the region through the launch of these direct flights.

"We are pleased to further expand our network in the GCC with the launch of flights to Al Jouf and Red Sea International," Obaidalla said.

Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Flydubai, said, “Flydubai becomes the first carrier to operate to Red Sea International from the UAE, offering passengers direct access to Saudi Arabia's resorts at The Red Sea destination. This underscores our commitment to opening up underserved markets and further connecting the regions we operate to via Dubai's aviation hub”.

With a network spanning 129 destinations across 58 countries, Flydubai operates with an efficient fleet of 86 Boeing 737 aircraft. The airline has recently inaugurated operations to Langkawi, Mombasa, and Penang, with plans to launch flights to Basel, Riga, Sochi, Tallinn, and Vilnius later in the year.

RSI, designed to facilitate travel to The Red Sea, currently hosts two luxury resorts: Six Senses Southern Dunes and St. Regis Red Sea Resort. The destination is set to expand with three additional resorts scheduled to open this year. By 2030, the Red Sea will feature 50 resorts, offering over 8,000 hotel rooms and 1,000 residential properties across various sites.

Michael White, Chief Commercial Officer of Red Sea International Airport, expressed enthusiasm for the influx of international travellers, marking a significant milestone in the airport's development.

"The arrival of international travellers represents an exciting next phase in RSI's development," White said, highlighting the airport's commitment to delivering exceptional services to passengers and airlines.

Flydubai's expansion into Al Jouf and Red Sea International reflects its dedication to enhancing connectivity in the GCC and supporting regional development initiatives.
