Etihad Rail has expanded its planned passenger network to 11 stations after confirming seven additional locations across the UAE, completing the national rail map ahead of an expected launch this year.

The newly named stops are Al Sila, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezairaa, Al Faya and Al Dhaid. They add to four stations previously identified in Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, University City in Sharjah and the Al Hilal area of Fujairah.

According to the company, the stations will be brought into service in stages and will link 11 cities and regions, forming the country’s first integrated passenger rail system. Chief Projects Officer Mohammed Alshehii said the locations were chosen to align with key population centres.

Etihad Rail has also outlined onboard features, confirming business and economy class compartments. Business class will include 16 seats, while economy class will have 56 seats per carriage. Trains will offer Wi-Fi, power outlets at every seat and a modern interior layout.

Services are expected to operate on a regular timetable, providing faster intercity travel and easing pressure on road networks. Alshehii said 10 of the 13 trains have already arrived and completed testing and certification. Each train can carry up to 400 passengers and will be run using advanced operating systems.
