Domestic airlines add non-scheduled flights from Gulf amid Middle East tensions
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Domestic airlines will operate extra non-scheduled flights from the Gulf region on Sunday, pending approvals from Indian and local authorities, as Middle East tensions persist.
Continuing airspace closures across West Asia have prompted these additional flights on March 8 to repatriate stranded passengers.
Air India plans extra services between Delhi-Mumbai and Dubai (UAE). Air India Express will run 30 additional flights linking India with UAE hubs like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah.
Other routes include Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Sharjah.
"Due to the dynamic situation in West Asia, flight schedules can change at a short notice. We recommend verifying your flight status at our website before you leave home. We will continue to provide flight updates on your registered numbers as well. Please connect with our 24×7 Contact Centre for more information," Air India posted on X.
Air India's Europe and North America routes continue normally via safe alternate paths.
IndiGo noted the evolving Middle East crisis has left many passengers eager to reunite with loved ones. It will restart Europe operations on March 8, linking key destinations, while maintaining flights to eight Middle East cities.
"Given the dynamic nature of the situation, flight schedules may change at a short notice. We will continue to share updates on our website and social media channels as the situation develops," IndiGo cautioned.
