This woman from Kerala has a moustache and it is a symbol of pride for her
text_fieldsKannur: A 35 year old woman from Kannur cannot imagine living without her moustache. And as amusing as it may sound to many, it's true.
Unlike most women, Shyja has been flaunting her moustache for years with pride and she has no plans to shave it off despite often being told to do so.
"I can't imagine living without it now. When the Covid pandemic started, I disliked wearing a mask all the time because it covered my face," Shyja was quoted as saying by BBC.
And for Shyja, growing her moustache is not about making a statement but about wanting to live life the way she likes. "I just do what I like. If I had two lives, maybe I'd live one for others," she said.
Interestingly, Shyja's moustache has now become a part of her life which she maintains unapologetically.
Although she didnt shy away from admitting that people mock her for her appearance, Shyja said that she did not remove the moustache because she is in love with it.
Shyja said that even her husband or family members do not object to her moustache and that she doesn't get bothered with what others have to say about her look.
As per reports, Shyja has gone through tough times with her health, she has undergone 6 surgeries in the last decade.
One of the surgeries was performed to remove cysts from her ovary while she got a lump removed from her breast in another.
Overcoming such crises has only made her resilient and live her life on her own terms. She said that when 5 years ago her upper lip hair started to thicken, she embraced it as a part of her identity rather than removing it like any other woman would choose to. She says, "I've never felt that I'm not beautiful because I have this or that it's something I shouldn't have."
Shyja also stressed she has built enough confidence and now wants her daughter to inherit this attitude from her.
