Woman dies after childbirth; shocking video of her before death viral
text_fieldsRewa/Bhopal: A disturbing video showing a woman emerging from an operation theatre in apparent distress and pleading with her family for help has intensified outrage following her death along with her newborn at Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, according to a report by the Times of India
The woman, identified as Kalpana Mishra of Hatwa village in the Baikunthpur area, was admitted to the hospital on the night of August 25 for childbirth. She and her newborn died at around 12:56 am on August 26.
In the purported video, recorded shortly before her death, Mishra is seen coming out of the operation theatre in an agitated state and alleging that the doctors wanted to kill her while desperately appealing to her relatives. Hospital staff can be seen restraining her and taking her back inside, according to Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla.
The footage went viral as her family accused the hospital doctors of negligence and created an uproar following the deaths, raising serious questions over what happened inside the operation theatre in the moments before the tragedy.
Amid mounting concern, the government suspended two doctors who were on duty — Dr Sonal Agarwal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Dr Nidhi Pandey of Anaesthesiology.
A five-member inquiry committee has been constituted to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths. The panel, headed by Dr Beenu Kushwaha, has been asked to submit its findings within three days.
The government has indicated that further action will depend on the inquiry findings, while stressing that accountability of doctors and proper attention to critical patients must be ensured in government hospitals.
