PM Modi to meet with Christian religious leaders during Kerala visit

Thiruvananthapuram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is to visit Kerala, will engage in discussions with Christian religious leaders, including bishops, and participate in other events during his two-day visit starting from April 24, said K Surendran, the state unit BJP president.
The report comes amid the reports the Kerala BJP is attempting to establish closer ties with churches. Surendran also stated that the Prime Minister will conduct a roadshow and deliver a speech at a public gathering.
The Prime Minister is expected to hold a roadshow in Kochi, followed by a public meeting at the Sacred Heart College ground. The conference, named "Yuvam," will focus on discussing why Kerala is lagging behind in the development sector despite having 100% literacy and educated youth.
During the conference, discussions will be held on corruption, mismanagement, and lack of vision. The BJP hopes to engage students, techies, artists, writers, sportspersons, and talented people from all walks of life in finding ways to end negative politics and usher in an era of development in Kerala. Social and spiritual organizations will also be consulted on this matter.
There has been criticism from both the ruling Left Front and the Congress-led UDF, who have accused the BJP of trying to gain the support of the Christian community ahead of next year's Lok Sabha elections. However, K Surendran dismissed these allegations, claiming that the Christian community has already dismissed all the false campaign that is currently going on.
Meanwhile, the Congress's Kerala unit president K Sudhakaran announced that the party would come out with a list of attacks that Sangh Parivar groups have unleashed on churches across the country and would lead a campaign on it in the coming weeks.
The Prime Minister's visit is expected to draw large crowds of people, who are eager to hear his plans for Kerala's development. The BJP hopes that the conference will mark the beginning of Kerala's political change, with youth from across the state participating in the event.
