Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has sought confirmation from the Centre regarding reports of the death of a man from the state in the war-affected region of Israel.

Officials from NORKA, the state-run agency that oversees matters related to non-resident Keralites, told PTI on Saturday that the information was received from a collective of Keralites working in Israel. Consequently, the state approached the Centre to verify the authenticity of the reports.

According to local media, the deceased was a native of Thiruvananthapuram, though the cause of death has not yet been ascertained.

A member of a WhatsApp group of Keralites working in Israel told PTI that the information about the death was first received on Wednesday, and efforts are ongoing to collect further details.
