Heavy showers: what is on Kerala's plate for next 5 days
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: In Kerala, where heavy rain is washing north to south, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yellow and orange alerts on Friday in various districts for the next five days.
In the districts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode and Kannur, an orange alert was issued, and there is a prediction that there could be heavy rains in isolated places.
IMD further informed us about a new depression that has formed in the southeastern Arabian Sea near the Kerala coast. Therefore, bouts of rain with thunder and wind are expected in Kerala for five days. Further, there is a prediction that heavy rains could lash isolated places till May 25.
According to IMD, a severe depression formed over the central-west Bay of Bengal has reached the central Bay of Bengal and intensified in strength. The depression is likely to develop into a cyclonic storm over the central-east Bay of Bengal by May 25th morning and is expected to change into a cyclonic storm in the evening that day. The storm is expected to make landfall between Sagar Island and Kheppupara along along the Bangladesh-Near West Bengal coast by the night of May 26.
