BJP raises Calicut university's removal of a book on PM Modi as an issue of pro-Pak approach
text_fieldsKozhikode: The Calicut University in Kerala recently removed a book on Prime Minister Modi from the display of new arrivals set in the library, enraging the BJP to call out the action as a pro-Pakistan approach.
The book titled 'Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery' is a collection of essays written by 22 dignitaries was removed from the display of new arrival.
While the BJP termed the removal an insult to the Indian Constitution and the country's democratic tradition, the University has to say that the removal is a routine process where all new arrivals have a 15-day life on display after that mindset set of new arrivals to be displayed.
However, the University said it will bring back the book on display following the allegation.
Raising the incident as an issue, the BJP state president K Surendran termed the removal as intolerance of a Taliban mindset that happened in a state which is ruled by a party that itself claims to be the protector of freedom of expression, referring to the CPI(M).
Dr Mohammed Haneefa, head of the Department of Library Science at Calicut University said that all the new arrivals will be put on display only for 15 days, but amid the controversy, the book will be put back on the display to avoid further controversy over the issue.
