Calicut Airport gets reconstituted advisory committee

Calicut: The advisory committee of the Calicut International Airport, under the Airports Authority of India, is reconstituted after ten months.
The new committee, formed based on the revised guidelines for the same by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, could widen representation by different stakeholders.
The move could foil dominance of any political party occupying positions on panels.
The reconstitution mainly aims at making the airport user-friendly, taking care of passenger amenities and facilities.
Earlier, the advisory committee was criticized for failing to consider requirements of passengers.
The nomination is for two years; however, a member can be renominated after four years.
The reconstitution, should have been done by January, was delayed by reasons including the Lok Sabha polls.
P.K. Kunhalikutty, Member of Parliament representing the Malappuram Lok Sabha constituency, is the new chairman.
Kozhikode M.P., M.K. Raghavan, is the new the co-chairman and P. Abdul Hameed, MLA, is the vice chairman.
