Kerala CM says not now, Dr. Kafeel Khan cancels his trip
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Dr. Kafeel Khan, former Assistant Lecturer at Gorakhpur BRD Medical College, who volunteered to serve the Nipah virus-affected people in Kerala, cancelled his journey to the state in the last minute.
The doctor said that Kerala Chief Minister's office informed him on Thursday night that he did not have to come now, as the expert team of AIIMS is coming. However, Dr. Khan said, the CM's office did not give a clear response when it was pointed out by him that he was coming for a voluntary service. The doctor had booked his ticket to travel from Lucknow to Kerala via Bengaluru.
Earlier, responding to an FB post of Dr. Kafeel Khan, who expressed his willingness for voluntary service to treat Nipah virus-affected people, Kerala CM had said that he may contact the Superintendent of Kozhikode Medical College. When he contacted the Superintendent, the latter replied that he had to get orders from higher authorities. When Dr Khan contacted the CM's office again, he was asked to report in person to the Superintendent of Kozhikode Medical College. The doctor booked his travel ticket accordingly and then cancelled it.
